Description

Burgundy produces some of the most regal Grand Cru and Premier Cru wines in the world, made in Eastern France, in the valleys and slopes west of the Saône, a tributary of the Rhône. The most famous wines produced here, and those commonly referred to as "Burgundies," are dry red wines made from pinot noir grapes.
Working with our friends at Berry Bros and Rudd we have selected six bottles each of two lovely representative fruity smooth wines from Burgundy, both excellent and drinking now or can be laid down for enjoying in the future.

2019 Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Domaine A.-F. Big. Six red bottles.

87/100 Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy. Vibrant medium to pale ruby colour, with perfumed soft red-fruits & slightly smoky aromas on the nose. The palate is ethereal – it has light to mid-weight with sweet red-fruit flavours & a lovely soft supple texture. The wine manages to be both mouth-wateringly fresh & possess surprising richness. There is a delightful balance between the wine’s alcohol, fruit & fresh acidity.

2018 Monthélie Rouge, Domaine de Montille, Burgundy. Six red bottles.

This wine is made without adding sulphur during vinification, the intention being that it drinks well and gives pleasure when young. Made with two-thirds whole bunches, it’s explosively floral on the nose. The palate has juicy crushed strawberry fruit flavours, finishing with chalky tannins. For drinking now. Adam Bruntlett, Burgundy Buyer, Berry Bros. & Rudd.
