Description
Chichester Festival Theatre urgently needs a third space to:
• Be the home of our Emerging Artists Development Programme
• Test projects and productions at their early stages and develop short courses and workshops
• Offer ‘breakout’ rehearsal spaces
• Work with more families and small children
• Give our key community partners a safe space to meet
What will this space look like?
With sustainability at its heart, we are repurposing the frame of another structure, previously located at the Pleasance Theatre in London and featured at the Edinburgh Festival. Usable year-round and fully wheelchair accessible, this 119-seater studio will have a thrust-stage to match our sister theatres and removable stacked seating giving us plenty of flexibility.
Eco-Facts:
A green roof (wildflower) is located above the entrance to help hold rainfall, improve biodiversity and improve the overall performance (thermal and acoustic).
Lighting is low energy with lighting controls to provide dimming and avoid unnecessary use. There will be very low water use with low volume WC flush and low flow basin taps.
Not a single tree will be removed!
We need your help!
We still have at least £300,000 left to raise, and the last bit is the hardest. We cannot make this dream a reality without the support of the public, so please do help us get over the line and donate today - anything you can!
This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build a space that stands us both locally and nationally as a leader for the development of new works and new careers in the theatre industry.
Please donate today - thank you
“Nurturing the next generation of artists is vital to ensure that theatre in the UK maintains its international reputation for excellence. I am delighted to support Chichester Festival Theatre - a place dear to my heart - as they embark on creating this exciting new space. I cannot wait to see the work that is incubated in the Nest!”
