About:
Catherine Barnes trained at Camberwell School of Art in the 1960’s and subsequently at Goldsmiths’ College. She has exhibited widely in London, the UK and Europe.
“I decided the subject of the four seasons would be appropriate for depicting the passing of time and the young growing. The roundness invites turning gently to see the full images. I have divided the seasons with bands of gold as a little nod to Fabergé.
So that winter could be gradually turned into spring there needed to be a second surface, hence spring is on egg number two. Similarly, summer can be displayed next to autumn. Therefore the eggs should be shown as a pair.”
