About
Charlotte Edsell is a British painter who lives and works in West Sussex.
Known for her dynamic and elegant gestural painting. Her work is concerned with a ‘felt sense’ of the world and the physical interaction and relationship of brush, body and surface.
Charlotte is dedicated to document this silent dialogue between her body and the things of the world, to bring awareness to this primary sense, the reality that lies beneath the surface into a concrete visual form; whether via direct practice with the body, bespoke physical dwellings or the medium of paint, her central practice.
The eggs invite the viewer to pause to wonder to discover another world, moments suspended, glimpses of scenery or perhaps light, suggestions of motion or texture, memories distilled from sitting in darkness immersed in the magic of the theatre.
She is represented by Candida Stevens Gallery, a curation led gallery. The gallery produces exhibitions that explore important themes through the responses of new or relevant work by some of the finest emerging and established artists working in Britain today. Charlotte’s new work will be on show with Ben Crawford at the gallery 12th October - 1st November 2024 and can be seen online.

All eggs must be collected in person if possible from Chichester Festival Theatre, or can be hand delivered if you live within a 50 mile radius.
