“The chalk pillars of the Pinnacle and Haystack in Swanage are some 70 million years old, yet in a short time, perhaps only 500 years, they will have gone, washed away by the action of the wind and waves. In this painting I show a momentary effect of dramatic light as the sunlight turns the cliffs to a dazzling white against a dark blue sea. “
