Description
Artist: Freddie Lyons
Title : The Serpent’s Egg
Medium : Pencil & Snakeskin
About:
“The egg displayed is hand drawn and coiled with real snake skin shed. This isn't any snake either, it's the boa constrictor. An animal native to the Amazon Rainforest, it is known for its undoubted power of strength to take down large animals in the wild.
I wanted to make this piece of artwork to show that snakes are misunderstood creatures and are mistreated by the world, i incorporated this animal into my work to show the most hated thing about them to make it beautiful. Inspired by the nest, I have drawn an egg cracking, covered in snakeskin. This indicates that eggs are not just produced by birds, but by reptiles as well.
My name is Freddie Lyons and I'm the artist behind this egg. I am a Chichester Festival Youth Theatre Member, the Nest will be super beneficial for me as well as many other youth members and I wanted to support the cause because CFYT has given me so many opportunities and experiences that no other youth theatre in the country could offer. “
