“The egg has been encased in a copper skin that makes it look like an unfolding flower head. The colour is a natural result of the copper being annealed under intense heat. Since the egg inside is made of plaster, it’s covering had to be constructed cold as otherwise the egg would have crumbled. This egg-case feels as if it might open-up like a casket, but it cannot; the egg is sealed inside. Around the outside of the egg it says ‘GOLDEN’, referring to obliquely the fairy-story as well as the materials it’s made from.”
