About
Chica Seal (b.1991) is a British painter. She received her BA in Painting at Brighton University (2015). Her work has been exhibited internationally including Alice Black Gallery (London), and Annika Nuttall Gallery (Denmark) amongst others.Her practice explores the female perspective through historic references, including mythology, folklore, literature and popular culture to create paintings. She is interested in the changing cultural landscape of how we see images. Through texture and colour, she imbues a sense of dreaminess and unease within her compositions.
“Painting this plaster egg came at a perfect time, as I had been studying birds in relation to women, through colloquial language and slang, to the presence of eggs. After sketching a design I primed the egg and began painting in gouache, I then scratched into the egg.”
Terms and Conditions:
All eggs must be collected in person if possible from Chichester Festival Theatre, or can be hand delivered if you live within a 50 mile radius.
