About
Donald Smith studied at Camberwell and Chelsea Schools of Art in the UK and at University of Ife in Nigeria. He has been exhibiting nationally and internationally for more than 30 years and has collaborated on many projects with the fashion, music, and hospitality sectors. He is a former Chairman of Chelsea Arts Club and the former Director of Chelsea Space, well known for his curatorial practice and collaborations with major cultural figures across art, design and popular culture.
Smith’s artworks centre around themes of colour, material, light, the social and the spatial. Much of the work is defined by a non-hierarchical, equal distribution of colour across the surface; no part is more important than another and the integrity of the whole is the focus.
