Ella Watkins
Description
Artist: Ella Watkins
Title: Jinsei
Medium: Acrylic paint & black pen
About
Ella’s inspiration for this design is from Japanese culture, with the tree depicting longlife and resilience and the reaching branches signifying the meandering nature of life. The red sun is a powerful symbol, seen on the Japanese flag, representing power, vitality and luck. The splash of pink is what can be seen across Japan in the spring as the cherry blossoms promise not only life in their vivacity, but death in their short lifespan, a reminder to us that life is short-lived.
Ella enjoys the beauty of Japanese art with its use of elegant colour combinations and use of patterns and lines often relating to the elements earth, water and fire.
