About
Petra Worth is a Silver Smith and Metal Clay Artist based in West Sussex.
“Growing up in Canada, I always looked forward to the coming of spring after a long, cold winter. With German parents, we had a lot of European traditions at home - one of them was to have an "Osterbaum" or Easter tree in the spring. The egg is an ancient symbol of life all over the world, so the perfect object to mark the beginning of spring.
My artistic journey started when I moved to Europe in my early 20s. I made Easter egg decorations, using polymer clay, to send home to my mother for her Easter tree. After having a family of my own, I decided to recreate the magic of my childhood, as my mother always made the holidays of Easter and Christmas a very special time with the way she decorated the house, and her infectious enthusiasm.
I would like to dedicate this “Nest Egg” to mothers – where life begins.”
