Founded in 1766 by James Christie, Christie's Auction House has since conducted the greatest and most celebrated auctions through the centuries providing a popular showcase for the unique and the beautiful.
Christie’s offers around 300 live and online only auctions annually in over 80 categories, including all areas of fine and decorative arts, jewellery, photographs, collectibles, wine, and more. The auctions house would be delighted to welcome you to an ‘Inside Christie’s’ tour.
The winning bidder and five guests will be taken on a tour which will last 90 minutes and will conclude with afternoon tea in the Directors’ Boardroom. This will be accompanied by a talk on the history of the company since its foundation in 1766 focusing on the highs and lows of the art market. During the tour you will walk around the building which has been home to Christie’s sale rooms since 1823. All the main viewing galleries will be visited, and the auction process will be explained in detail from the Valuation Counter through to the Saleroom and beyond.
